Glorifying God through Word, Worship & Service.
Dear Families,
Welcome to a new year of Faith Formation at St. James Church!
On the first Sunday of each month we will introduce the theme during our family-based gathering called Deep Root Sunday. This year, Deep Root Sunday will be led by one of our very own St. James Parish families! We will begin with a family-time meal with fun placemat activities, then we will worship and glorify God using music, drama, prayer, arts, and crafts. Lastly we will dig deep into God’s word with Bible study and more prayer which will focus on our Catholic tenets and the liturgical seasons of the year. The family is the community where Christian faith practices are nurtured and take root so that they can grow and branch out to every area of a person’s life, so don’t miss this time of learning and growing as a family.
During two Sundays each month, preschool thru 8th grade children will continue lessons, with their age group, on the theme that was introduced on Deep Root Sunday. Lessons will involve faith practices such as Bible reading, prayer, and serving others. Children will have opportunities to listen to and watch faith stories, talk about their faith, and do hands-on activities that will help them remember what they learned.
One Sunday each month there is NO CLASS. This is a great opportunity for you to ritualize family moments and experiences; visit grandparents or other relatives, do a family service project, or just have a family day of rest. Of course, this week and every week you should be participating in Sunday worship by attending Mass as a family. Post the following schedule in your home and plan to attend Deep Root Sunday as a family each month!
